Job Responsibilities and Duties:
• Support internal medicine physicians and hospitalists in patient care
• Manage patient discharges and admissions
• Perform procedures including vascular access, thoracentesis, paracentesis, venous access, NG tube placement, and line placements (arterial, central, PICC)
• Collaborate with hospitalists in a closed unit setting
• Provide care for patients in Med Surg and Tele Surg units
• Conduct patient rounds and assessments
• Develop and implement treatment plans
• Interpret diagnostic tests and lab results
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using Epic EHR system
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Participate in multidisciplinary care conferences
• Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in hospital medicine
Additional Information:
• Must be licensed as a Physician Assistant in California
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferred
• Strong clinical skills in hospital medicine and acute care procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Flexibility to work both morning and night shifts
• Comfortable managing a high volume of discharges (average 23 per day)
• Critical care procedures not required for this position
• Possibility of assignment extension beyond the initial 120 days
