Job Title: Registered Nurse LTC Location: Hot Springs, SD 57747 Duration: 13 Weeks Shift/Schedule: 12 hours varied shifts (days and nights). Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week Job Description: Make nursing assessments regarding the health status of the residents; making nursing diagnosis which serves as the basis or the strategy of care. -Develop a plan of care based on assessment and nursing diagnosis; implement nursing care; and evaluate responses to nursing interventions. -Make provisions for outside physician visits to ensure residents' medical needs are met. -Demonstrates effective communication with physician and family members to ensure resident needs are met. Performs teaching to residents, families and staff to ensure understanding of the residents' plan of care. -Understands, promotes and implements the choices' philosophy and resident rights. Prepares, administers and charts routine and emergency medication and treatment as ordered. Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their side effects. -Ensure clinical record reflects accurate and timely documentation to ensure continuity and quality of resident care. -Perform safety and infection control procedures to ensure a safe and clean environment for residents and staff. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, participates in Quality Management program to ensure appropriate standards of care are met within the facility. -Functions as the primary contact person on assigned shift. Effectively supervises resident assistants to ensure compliance with plan of care. -Demonstrates knowledge, skills and ability in IV therapy to include initiating IV's, administration of initial medication, management of central line and catheters.
