The department of Exercise Science and Pre-Health Professions at Creighton University invites applications for a non-tenure track adjunct instructor and laboratory assistant for a one-year ¾ time appointment specializing in weight training. We seek individuals committed to being outstanding teachers within a primarily undergraduate-serving college. Teaching and laboratory responsibilities are scheduled to accommodate a typical graduate studentâ??s schedule however it is not a requirement to currently be enrolled in a graduate program.  The successful applicant will teach two weight training courses each semester or other courses as needed.

 

The successful applicant will also be responsible for supervision of student testing in the laboratory; assist with preparation, instruction, and evaluation in lab courses; and contribute to the preparation, calibration, and maintenance of equipment. The individual may be asked to assist with activities that promote the university and the department (e.g. Majorâ??s Fair, Health Fair, Benefitâ?? Fair, etc.) and other activities deemed necessary by the Department Chair and the Exercise Testing and Training Laboratory Director.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelorâ??s in Exercise Science (or a closely related field) is required
  • Current CPR certification and NSCA-CPT, NSCA-CSCS or ACSM-Exercise Physiologist certification required
  • Experience in teaching, personal training, and laboratory testing is preferred
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to administer fitness testing
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport quickly and effectively with a diversity of populations 
  • Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others
