A Brief Overview
Under the direction of the Lead Director, Philanthropy the Annual Giving Officer, will play a critical role in the direct, front-line solicitation of lea annual gifts ($1,000 $10,000 or more when appropriate) to support various programs across Children's Nebraska. In this role the Annual Giving Officer will also identify and qualify major gift prospects. The Annual Giving Officer will work on several cross-organization fundraising initiatives aimed at increasing the number of annual donors and revenue through direct mail, online giving and employee campaigns.

Essential Functions

  • Manages development activities to cultivate and sustain donor relationships and advance the mission of organization. Holds self and others accountable to meet stated objectives, outcomes, goals, timetables, and commitments, adhering to standards even in the face of unforeseen circumstances. Builds donor relationships, primarily through the annual giving arena, through systematic and strategic development and communication to identify and match donors giving objectives with giving opportunities to support the hospitals mission. 
  • Manages defined annual giving programs, including those for Childrens employees, physicians, direct mail and online giving campaigns. 
  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of prospects and for the direct, face-to-face solicitation of gifts up to $10,000. 
  • Communicate with, engage and qualify philanthropic interests of potential donors. 
  • Steward and engage existing annual donors to further cultivate and qualify for future giving and potential for major gifts. 
  • Partner and coordinate with directors of philanthropy and help integrate larger major gift strategies as appropriate. 
  • Works directly with directors of philanthropy on strategy and implementation of annual support through grateful family program 
  • Other projects as assigned.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree In non-profit management, business, marketing or a related field Required

Experience Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of annual giving, development or similar experience. Required and
  • A track record that demonstrates solid fundraising results and success soliciting and closing annual gifts up to $10,000. Fundraising, sales, public relations or relevant professional experience is helpful. Preferred and
  • Development experience in an academic or health system setting with a comprehensive development program. Experience with Raisers Edge or similar donor management systems Preferred

  • Ability to exercise a high degree of sound judgment and diplomacy, with a commitment to confidentiality. (High proficiency)
  • Excellent written and communication skills with an engaging, genuine and mature personal style. (High proficiency)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a proven record of working collaboratively with others is necessary. (Medium proficiency)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet challenging and changing deadlines. (High proficiency)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external constituency groups and to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment. (High proficiency)
  • Detailed and results oriented with strong anticipatory instincts; a self-starter who takes initiative with excellent follow-through (Medium proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Availability to work flexible hours which will include occasional weekend and evening hours
