Borsheims is looking for a full-time Jewelry Shop Assistant Manager to join our team. At Borsheims, we take pride in providing our Signature Service to every customer, and you will play a vital role in helping us do that.
We are looking for someone to help deliver Borsheims' omnichannel Signature Service by assisting in managing jewelry repair, watch repair, and appraisal functions. Our Jewelry Shop Assistant Manager oversees the workflow, provides direction, responds to questions, and ensures the timely and quality completion of projects. If you have prior management experience and are a strong communicator, you may be the gem we've been searching for!
Qualified candidates should have:
- Minimum 1-2 years of management experience
- Shop environment experience
- A four-year college degree is preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
You Will:
- Assist in managing all shop and watch repair staff by overseeing training, providing one-on-one coaching, measuring results, and providing ongoing feedback. Assist with completing and delivering performance reviews.
- Assign jobs based on the skills and abilities of jewelers, ensuring quality control and timeliness of all repair work, appraisals, engraving, stock jobs, and trade-in processing.
- Manage department schedules, ensuring payroll hours, budgets and guidelines are being met.
- Communicate information from management to staff regarding events, policies and procedures, and general information.
- Assist in creating, implementing and monitoring jewelry repair systems, resulting in higher productivity and profits.
- Work with accounting to establish and enforce merchandise controls for inventory, stock jobs, trade-ins, melt programs, etc. in the shop.
- Ensure weekly and monthly job envelope audits are completed, and any variances are reconciled.
- Assist shop manager in working with all managers to improve the systems and services for sales areas and customer service to serve the customer effectively.
- Monitor inventory levels of shop materials and stones while adhering to the purchase budget, ensuring sufficient materials to meet demand.
- Work with the security manager to maintain a shop safety program, including a hazardous chemical written plan, training and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe and secure environment. Maintain knowledge of Federal OSHA regulations pertaining to shop operations.
