JOB OVERVIEW

• Responsible for the Inpatient Access operational management, functions and staff for both the Lincoln & Omaha campuses.
• Monitors admission processes, insuring compliance with all governmental and accrediting agency regulations and standards to patient access.
• Supervision of the Lincoln staff, including Inpatient Registrars, Family Housing Coordinator and Case Managers - Admissions.
• Must have knowledge and understanding of the Affinity Registration application to provide support in data entry to IP registrars to maintain dictionaries, and to set up and test new releases of the Registration application.
• Solid comprehension and appreciation of the Customer Access System to maintain the integrity of the Admission process and recognize the impact on the financial success of Madonna.
  
  
  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Responsible for ensuring the department standards for accuracy are met.
• Coordinate, analyze and compile short and long term goals for the development of individual staff.
• Compile, record and analyze information through IP registration audits and customer feedback.
• Contribute to the developing, writing and implementation of operational definitions and processes to promote consistency of operations.
• Compile necessary information and communicate to staff in a timely manner.
• Track errors in demographic data, communicate and collaborate with other members of the Customer Access System to resolve issues and determine ongoing staff education needs.
• Oversee the Patient Handbook for each lines of business for annual revisions in order to meet the Condition of Participation guidelines as deemed by CMS.
• Makes operational decisions that follow sound business principles & logic.
• Responsible for supervision and effective management of Inpatient Access department employees, including immediate supervision of Lincoln campus employees, Case Managers-Admissions and Inpatient Access Supervisor. Recruits and hires staff and ensures appropriate department orientation to set staff up for success. Clearly articulates expectations and monitors performance. Provides timely feedback for improvement and engages in coaching and discipline as needed.
• Effectively controls cost through economical utilization of staff, materials, equipment as determined by budget reports.
  
  
  QUALIFICATIONS
• High school equivalency with two years post-high school education and two years applicable health care admission experience required.
• Two years supervisory/management experience required.
• CHAM Certification (Certified Healthcare Access Manager) via NAHAM Credentialing Program preferred.
• Additional relevant work experience would be considered in lieu of post-high school education.
• Must have a solid working knowledge of Medicare & Medicaid rules related to admission process, including but not limited to conditions of Participation and Medicare Secondary Payer Information and ability to consistently apply and comply with them.
