Resident Support Specialist-P/T

 

Stephen Center has served homeless and low-income individuals in Omaha since 1984 with the mission to partner with the community, families and individuals to overcome homelessness, addiction and poverty.  The Pettigrew Emergency Shelter and Permanent Supportive Housing offerings provide safe and secure housing while individuals and families complete an assessment of permanent housing options. All Stephen Center residents have access to dual diagnosis support services via the HERO addiction/recovery program. 100% of Stephen Center shelter supportive housing participants are living in poverty.  Housing transition support identifies poverty barriers that may impact one’s ability to achieve or maintain permanent housing through case management, life skills, and behavioral health services. Stephen Center serves approximately 250 people daily in all programs.  

 

 

 

Purpose: The Stephen Center Resident Support Specialist is responsible for the care and oversight of the clients residing in the mental health and substance abuse program. This person is responsible for ensuring services for residents are consistent with regulations and established best practices. The primary duty is to be of services to residents and to ensure they have an overall positive experience.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure all safety and security guidelines are followed.
  • Checking property of new and existing clients, ensuring all items are transferred to the heat room.
  • This position assures the office is fully staffed during the night hours of operations.
  • Staff has the opportunity to direct clients by assisting them with questions, problems, and emergency situations.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate client behavior using Program rules as guidelines. Initiate appropriate consequences as necessary.
  • Monitor and log client’s medication including counting medication upon arrival and observing daily intake in partnership with Case Managers.
  • Inspect rooms for order and cleanliness. 
  • Follow up accordingly with clients violating rules in partnership with Case Managers.
  • Keep hallways and rooms clean and orderly. 
  • Assist/direct clients to follow through with chores.
  • Answer clients and agency questions.
  • Support the Front Desk by answering incoming calls and distributing messages for clients.
  • Collecting exit information upon departure.
  • Generate incident reports as necessary
  • Clearly and accurately communicate with staff regarding client intakes.
  • Data Entry into appropriate EHR system as assigned.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.?

Position Requirements:

·Minimum of high school diploma or GED.

·Work experience in human services preferred.

·Ability to two way verbally communicate

·Standing - Periodically

·Walking - Periodically

·Kneeling –  Periodically

·Pushing/Pulling– Periodically

·Lifting up to 25 pounds – Periodically

·Conducts self in a manner of professionalism that is conducive to recovery from mental illness, co-occurring disorders and overall wellness, including a minimum of one year of continuous sobriety if in recovery, from the substance for which you are in recovery.

·Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.

Pay: $17-$19 hour
