Position Description
Lindsay Corporation is hiring a dynamic Test Engineer (Mechanical/Structural/Mechatronics), who is customer-focused and is passionate about making products safer, more reliable, and more durable. This position will report to the Senior Director, Product Integrity. In this position, the successful candidate will design and perform tests on Lindsay irrigation pivots products, and systems, and evaluate results to make recommendations for product improvements.
Position Details
This full-time position is based in Lindsay, NE (preferred), or Omaha. It is 40 hours/week and includes salaried employee benefits. Expected travel required is 40-50% to various test sites, locally and nationally.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Test Engineer will lead the program development for Mechanical, Structural, Mechatronics product groups.
They will develop, direct, and execute test programs and analyze test results. They will communicate those results and make design recommendations to appropriate internal or external stakeholders including design engineering teams, test teams, and management personnel.
Determine test equipment requirements and design and fabricate test fixtures; this may include the use of SolidWorks or other design tools/software
Test equipment set-up using advanced instrumentation or tools e.g. DEWESOFT and data analysis
Plan and conduct performance evaluation of prototypes and production equipment using field tests and lab environments with simulated field conditions
Lead the review of product designs for potential areas of weakness and concerns
Utilize FMEA/DVP&R techniques to enhance product reliability and product durability
Organize test programs, including facilities, manpower, procedures, and timing
Work closely with design engineering to improve product design specifications
Perform concept evaluations and engineering feasibility evaluations
Prepare detailed reports and test procedures documenting the results, methods, and equipment used in product evaluation
May give work direction to engineers, test technicians, or drafters
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Agriculture Engineering or Technology from a university with an ABET-accredited program
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Proficient in MS Office
Previous knowledge and experience working on Irrigation or mechatronics systems is highly preferred.
Ability to communicate technical problems and solutions to train and outline problems.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. up a ladder.
Valid driver's license and willing to travel.
