Position Summary: The Physical Therapist Assistant, the PTA will work under the supervision of a licensed PT to implement treatment plans, assist patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals, and ensure a high standard of care in a collaborative environment.

Position Requirements

Education: Graduate of an accredited physical therapist assistant program - required.

Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Nebraska and / or Iowa - required.

Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 60 days of hire.

Experience: Any Orthopedic experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant required.

Essential Job Functions

  • Implements treatment programs designed by a physical therapist to ensure quality patient care
  • Maintains complete and accurate records pertinent to patient treatment to assure proper documentation and to be in regulatory compliance
  • Maintains professional skills/competencies to effectively and progressively meet the demands of the position
  • Provide clinical instruction to students when assigned
  • Incumbent is expected to comply with safety policies and procedures, regulatory requirements such as OSHA and JCAHO and to participate in corporate-wide and department safety activities
  • Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Attend and participate in department meetings.
  • Attend mandatory educational programs.
  • Follow established guidelines as stated in hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements: This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
