Job Description

BHE GT&S has an exciting career opportunity as a Security Technical Advisor at our Glen Allen, VA location.

 


 

 

Responsibilities

  • Assists in all technology aspects of physical security projects, specifically the access control and video monitoring systems projects, as well as deployment of key systems, and ensuring the Security Operations Center systems are properly integrated and maintained. 
  • Manage vendor relationships with security integrators, including scheduling maintenance, requesting quotes, and ensuring work completion. 
  • Advise Security leadership on all matters involving physical security systems and technology. 
  • Coordinate closely with IT, Facilities, Procurement, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage projects to install, program, and maintain security systems and technology.
  • Perform maintenance and administration of core systems. 
  • Assist in the investigation and implementation of new security technologies. 
  • Work with internal and/or vendor personnel to investigate system problems and develop solutions. 
  • Ensure successful testing and implementation of these technologies and solutions. 
  • Develop formal proposals for hardware and software component purchases and participate in negotiations with vendors. 
  • Working with supply chain, manage the provisioning of security systems technical support and training. 
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Communications/Contacts

Internal – Business leadership, Chief Security Office, Chief Information Office, Project Managers, Facilities, other stakeholders.

External – Suppliers of information protection information products and services, including third parties; auditors; and professional security groups. Industry groups, local, state and national agencies in relationship to physical and cyber protection.

  • Support the company's employee policies and procedures, including workplace safety rules. 
  • Monitor and enforce all compliance requirements for area of responsibility. 
  • Ensure all compliance aspects of position are known and followed.
  • Understand and comply with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years’ experience combined in IT, security, enterprise systems and electric utility operations. 
  • Advanced knowledge of security systems and software; extensive technical knowledge of complex operating systems, database, network software and disaster recovery practices. 
  • Knowledge of information technology terms, equipment, systems, functions and major vendors. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. 
  • Effective interpersonal skills and customer relationship skills. 
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. 
  • Availability as a resource for problem resolution on a 24-hour basis.

Education

Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related technical field; or equivalent work experience.
