VETERANS DRUG COURT CASE COORDINATOR (Job #4311)

(Legal Assistant 3)

SALARY RANGE:  $20.95-$26.23 Per Hour

NATURE OF WORK

This is professional administrative and coordinative work of a complex nature performed for Pierce County Superior Court. An employee in this classification coordinates and works closely with the Drug Court and the Veteran's Administration to ensure that veterans who are Drug Court defendants receive the aid available to them from the Veteran's Administration.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in developing the process for armed forces veterans participating in Drug Court
  • Act as primary liaison between the court, treatment provider and Veteran's Administration for the program.
  • Participate in special projects and facilitate cross-departmental and inter-agency collaboration.
  • Research other drug court models with a veteran component and assist with development and implementation.
  • Research the benefits of proposed changes to current policies and procedures as they relate to the veterans.
  • Monitor and provide suggestions to revise the court operating system (LINX).
  • Maintain and monitor statistics and outcomes specific to the veterans and other relevant drug court statistics.
  • Analyze processes and procedures and provide recommendations for change and/or new policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Drug Court Judge when required.
  • Ensure all parties, including the public, receive rules, policies and procedures specific to the Veterans’ Drug Court.
  • Assist in the development of an individualized client service plan in cooperation with representatives of the criminal justice system, treatment facilities, and other community veterans’ services in response to client needs.
  • Assist clients in determining relative eligibility for veterans’ services and benefits.
  • Develop cooperative and professional working relationships with all available veterans offices and supporting activities, e.g., contracted service providers.
  • Research benefits of proposed changes to current policies and procedures as they relate to veterans.
  • When required, appear with veterans during contacts with the criminal justice system.
  • Adhere to Pierce County Court program policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to state and federal confidentiality regulations.
  • Maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance during regularly scheduled work hours.
  • Meet the traveling requirements of the position.
  • Perform the physical requirements of the position; work within the established working conditions of the position.

 

RECRUITING REQUIREMENTS

Graduation from a four year college or University with a degree in court administration, criminology, criminal justice, pre law, business administration or a related field plus three or more years of experience in an administrative position requiring systems analysis and/or court operations.  Additional education or experience may substitute equally for the position requirements.  Proficiency with computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel) and experience in the field of social work in desirable.  Armed Forces experience and/or knowledge of the Veterans Administration is desirable.  SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:  Ability to successfully complete and pass a Pierce County background investigation and polygraph examination.  A valid Washington State driver’s license is required.

3.      Detail your knowledge, education, and experience with substance abuse disorders.

 

4.      A portion of the duties will require analysis of statistics. What is your comfort level with statistics and analysis?  Provide an example of statistical analysis you have prepared.
