Welcome to the California Judicial branch
As the nation’s most populous state, California boasts the
largest court system in the country, serving more than 34
million
citizens. The state’s judicial branch consists of the
Supreme Court, six
Courts of Appeal, and Superior Court systems in each of the
state’s 58
counties. The Judicial Council, the courts policymaking
body, oversees
court administration.
Throughout their 150-year history, the state’s courts have
worked hard
to ensure the fair administration of justice. The current
era has been
one of great change for the courts, marked by programs to improve
efficiency and better serve the public. Recently, the California courts
have made significant strides in increasing access to justice, offering
increased services to unrepresented litigants, streamlining the jury
service process, improving the court interpreter program, and creating
drug courts that focus on rehabilitation.
Such efforts would not be possible without the more than 20,000 people
who work for the state’s judicial branch. Holding positions in over 200
job classifications, court employees work in law, finance, human
resources, communications, court facilities, operations, and management,
among others. They enjoy some of the most challenging and rewarding
careers in public service. California’s court system consists of a total
of 65 court systems with some 375 different court locations. This site
contains job announcements for trial court positions as well as Supreme
Court, Appellate Courts and the
Administrative Office of the Courts.
