Position Description

Purpose

 

Indentify, secure, and process all current and new Family Mentor resources, providing consultation and initial licensing, renewal licensing, updates and monitoring files to ensure all are in accordance with the requirements set by Visinet, Inc.

Accountabilities

 

1.       Will meet with potential foster parents in their home to assess the living environment, ability to meet time schedules, willingness to work with a team, and availability of scheduling.

2.       Will review the basic requirements of licensing with the Family Mentors to determine if they will meet criteria.

3.       Will attend required in-service meetings to obtain required amount of ongoing training fifteen (15) hours per year.

4.       Will complete and submit all designated monthly renewals to Resource and Training Manager for approval two weeks before expiration date, copying and mailing to the State once approval is obtained.

5.       Will complete home study corrections requested by the state within twenty-four (24) hours.

6.       Will complete with potential Family Mentors, the necessary background check releases within timeframes as identified in the Program Specific Manual.

7.       Will complete and submit all renewal background and sexual offender checks (CPS, APS/DMV, finger printing, health/wellness records, etc.)

8.       Will obtain any necessary forms or documentation as needed per the Resource and Training Manager, the DOHC and the Licensing Board.

9.       Will assist the potential foster parents in completing the License Application, Sexual Offender Registry, Health Check forms, and other paperwork as necessary such as the Home Study Questionnaire and training assignments as needed.

10.    May assist with  various presentations during the month regarding foster parenting through the use of various organizations, schools, businesses, mental health facilities, civic organizations, Rotary Clubs, etc. to recruit new foster parents.

11.    Will assist Family Mentors in obtaining a minimum of twenty-eight (28) hours of training for licensure purposes.  Monitor foster parent files to ensure hours are up to date at all times.  Assist foster parents in obtaining approximately twenty-one (21) hours of additional training for the purpose of training the foster parents in specialized expectations and techniques for treatment level services.

12.    May assist with maintaining regular contact with Family Mentors throughout the recruitment, licensing, and training process.

13.    May assist with providing monthly consultation and support to all Family Mentors prior to placement of youth and assist with providing aftercare support when any youth in their home transition out.

 

Job Specifications and Work Requirements

1.       Education

a.       Required: High School Diploma and two years experience in social work or related field; excellent writing skills.

b.       Desired: Associate’s degree in social work or related field in social work or related field and two years of experience completing home studies.

 

2.       Experience

a.       Required: Previous work with at-risk families;

b.       Desired: Previous recruiting and public speaking/marketing.

 

3.       Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Completion of all Visinet, Inc. regular and ongoing training identified for the position.

 

4.       Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook or similar types of software (MDaemon, Google Apps, etc.).

 

5.       Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

a.       Ability to demonstrate professionalism in the administration of duties;

b.       Strong interpersonal, communication skills;

c.        Ability to work with minimal supervision.

 

6.       Working Conditions:

a.       Varied, internal as well as external; Family Mentor homes; kinship homes of children/youth in homes which could challenge your value system at times; 

b.       Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
