RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct the self-help program for the inpatient population, as well as group and individual counseling, and family education. Participate in weekly staff meetings, clinical staffing and treatment team conferences.
DUTIES:
1. Participate in planning and implementation of individual patient master treatment plan.
2. Conduct self-help, individual, group and family education sessions. Conduct assessments so as to arrive at theoretically sound case management.
3. Maintain personal interaction with patients on the unit and provide modeling to encourage positive behavior in patients.
4. Evaluate and monitor patient behaviors, assessing the degree of improvement and/or the need for referral to a higher level of care.
5. May be asked to address public meeting, clubs, schools, classes, etc.
6. Counsel patients and families in aftercare planning, including placement and follow-up care with community (tribal, service units, school districts, etc.)
7. Provide support to the Treatment Technicians within a team environment.
8. Participate in call rotation to be available to program staff during off hours.
9. Observe and assess behaviors and objectively communicate these behaviors in a manner that is professionally sound.
10. Make presentations to groups on chemical dependency subjects/issues.
11. May provide direct supervision to counselor interns as assigned by Treatment Manager.
12. Provide progress notes, discharge summaries, point sheets, target forms, cdmis forms, and other forms of documentation utilizing the chemical dependency information system.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
1. Washington State Department of Health CDP license
2. Availability to work shifts and weekends
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
4. Basic computer skills including word processing
5. Organizational skills
6. Excellent interpersonal skills
7. Ability to work independently
8. Ability to handle stress in a positive manner
9. Physically able to take part in outings such as biking and hiking
Preferred:
1. Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field
2. Experience lecturing/teaching
3. Case management experience
4. Two years experience working with chemically dependent adolescents with one year of experience in an inpatient treatment program
5. Current driver’s license with good driving record
